This past weekend The RoboBees attended the Washington D.C. Regional in full force. Coming from the practice of Chesapeake and having time to tweak code on our practice bot we were feeling very confident. Practice on Thursday showed that our driver skill and robot control had greatly improved since our last competition. With an excellent showing on Thursday The RoboBees were more than ready for qualification matches on Friday.
Friday began like normal with qualification matches starting after opening ceremonies. The RoboBees and their alliance members blew through the competition while managing to balance on the coopertition bridge almost every match. At the end of day one The RoboBees stood with a record of 5 wins and 1 loss, sitting in 3rd place.
Saturday mornings matches went well and pushed us into 2nd place overall during the qualification matches right behind Vulcan Robotics, FIRST Team 1218. During alliance selection The RoboBees were invited to join the 1st seed alliance with 1218. Our third alliance member became The Wobots, FIRST Team 141, which created an almost unstoppable force. Unfortunately for the 1st seed alliance the 2nd seed alliance overcame us and defeated us in the Finals. The RoboBees ended as a Washington D.C. Finalist.
During the awards ceremony on Saturday The RoboBees were gifted with The Motorola Quality Award. The Motorola Quality Award is described as –
